Minecoins are for exploring Minecraft Marketplace: a new world to play, a skin pack for your character, or a texture pack that changes the look of your builds. They give you Marketplace currency to choose content from creators rather than unlocking one particular pack.
You need an edition of Minecraft with Marketplace support to use Minecoins. They do not buy the base game and cannot be spent in Java Edition, so check your edition before choosing a quantity. Compare a pack’s Minecoin price with the card amount if you have a specific purchase in mind. Redeem on the Microsoft account used for Marketplace; the code’s format determines which official redemption page to use.

Minecraft Minecoins Card FAQ.
Does it buy Minecraft itself?
No. Minecoins buy eligible Marketplace content rather than a game license.
Will it work in Java Edition?
No. Java Edition does not use Minecraft Marketplace.
Can I spend Minecoins on PlayStation?
PlayStation’s in-game Marketplace uses Tokens. Minecoins and Tokens are separate currencies.
Will this Minecoin card work on Nintendo Switch?
Check the card’s supported platforms before buying. From October 27, 2026, Nintendo uses a separate Minecoin wallet for new purchases, and newer retail cards may not support Nintendo devices.
Can I use the balance on more than one device?
Sign in with the same Microsoft account on compatible Bedrock devices. PlayStation uses separate Tokens, and new Nintendo purchases have separate wallet rules from October 27, 2026.
Why are the Minecoins missing after redemption?
Check that Minecraft is signed in to the Microsoft account used to redeem the code. If the game was open during redemption, sign out and restart it before checking Marketplace again.
