An Xbox gift card adds Microsoft account credit for your next digital purchase. It can go toward a game you want to own, an expansion, or eligible in-game content sold through Xbox. You can save the balance for a later release or use it across several purchases.
The balance belongs to the Microsoft account linked to the Xbox profile and can also be used for eligible Microsoft Store purchases. It is flexible credit, while a Game Pass code adds a particular membership and term. Choose an Xbox card when you want funds for individual purchases; compare Game Pass separately when the aim is subscription access. Any unused credit remains on the redeeming account.

Xbox Gift Card FAQ.
Is an Xbox card different from a Microsoft card?
Both add Microsoft account credit. Match the card’s currency and region to the account.
Does this include Game Pass?
It adds credit rather than a membership term. Check subscription payment options on your Microsoft account.
Can I move the balance between accounts?
Microsoft account balance cannot be transferred to another account.
What happens to credit I do not spend?
Unused credit stays in your Microsoft account. Ordinary, non-promotional account balance does not expire; promotional credit has its own terms.
Can I pay the rest with another payment method?
For eligible purchases, Microsoft can let you cover the remainder with a payment method registered to the account. Check the options shown at checkout; some purchases have additional restrictions.
